Frost Damage on Corn

Just about everything fared the cold snap this past weekend fairly well.  The only things showing signs of damage are some corn fields.  Some V1 and V2 corn suffered minor frost injury, but nothing too serious.

Fields with a heavy crop residue seem to be burned a little worse than fields with bare soil.  Possibly the residue helped insulate the frost from the warmer ground and led to the frost sticking around a little longer.

The growing points are still below ground until V6, so even though the frost damage looks a little ugly, everything should recover.  Now we just need some warm days to kick start the damaged plants.  The forecast for next week shows warmer weather on the way.
