Question of the Week: Parasitoid

Last week the question was:  What is going on in this microscope photo?

There is a tiny parasitic wasp ovipositing an egg in this squash bug egg.  This is a difficult thing to witness just because of the wasp’s size but it actually occurs quite frequently.  It has been reported that up to 30% of squash bug eggs may be parasitized.  Read more about it here in the “Natural Enemies” section.
